What this checks

Every button on a mouse sends a distinct code: left (0), middle (1), right (2), and the back (3) and forward (4) side buttons. This test reads those codes directly and shows which one your hardware actually sent — a fast way to confirm a button works or spot a dead one.

The held indicator

Hold several buttons at once and the Held pill decodes the full button bitmask, so you can verify simultaneous presses register correctly too.

FAQ

How do I test my mouse buttons?

Press each button on your mouse while pointing at the diagram above. The matching area lights up, and the Last button / Held pills show what fired. Left, right, middle (scroll click) and the two side buttons are all supported.

Why doesn't right-click open a menu here?

We suppress the context menu and the browser's back/forward navigation inside the test so every button is actually testable. Outside the test they behave normally.

My side buttons don't register — why?

Some mice map side buttons to keyboard shortcuts or macros in their software rather than the standard back/forward button codes. In that case the browser never sees a button event. Check your mouse's software.

How do I test my scroll wheel here?
