What the test reads

Every notch of the wheel fires a scroll event with a direction. We count up and down notches separately, light a check when each direction first registers, and track how many notches you roll per second as a live speed reading.

Spotting a faulty wheel

A healthy wheel registers one notch per physical click in the direction you turn it. If notches get skipped, double-count, or come through reversed, the encoder inside the wheel is likely worn or dirty. The wheel-click indicator also confirms the middle button.

My wheel scrolls up when I scroll down (or skips) — what's wrong?

Erratic or reversed scrolling usually means a dirty or worn scroll encoder. Counts that jump by several notches per click, or directions that don't match your motion, point to a hardware fault rather than a browser issue.

Why doesn't the page move when I scroll in the box?

The test holds back the page's own scrolling inside the test area so your input is measured cleanly. Scroll outside the box and the page behaves normally.
